Routine eye exams are covered by a vision insurance plan. The routine eye exam is a “Wellness type of exam” for patients who don’t have an eye disease or exhibit medical-based symptoms. During the exam, the doctor is assessing overall eye heath and the exam may include, if needed, a prescription for glasses or contact lenses. If the doctor finds anything abnormal during the exam, he may ask you to schedule a “medical exam” for follow-up.
